Motherwood Exterior Grade MDF is the 2nd tier in the MDF quality hierarchy — better than Interior Grade MDF but below Super HD+WR (HDHMR) and TurBo+ (the highest). The correct grade ladder from lowest to highest: Interior Grade → Exterior Grade → Super HD+WR (HDHMR) → TurBo+ (BEST).
Exterior Grade MDF is engineered with special exterior-grade resins for outdoor and semi-outdoor applications — resistant to rain, humidity, and temperature fluctuations. It passes the Boilo test (boiling water resistance standard), confirming its suitability for demanding moisture-exposed environments. Exterior grade suits semi-outdoor and humid positions such as covered ceilings, balcony soffits and shop fit-outs. It is not a substitute for marine plywood in a position that takes direct rain or standing water.

📏 Where Exterior Grade Sits in the Motherwood Range
Motherwood Exterior Grade MDF is bonded for semi-outdoor and humid positions: covered ceilings, balcony soffits, shop fit-out panels and interiors that stay damp. Rajkot stock runs 3mm, 5.5mm, 7.3mm, 11mm and 17mm in 8x4 ft sheets, manufactured to IS 12406 like the rest of the Motherwood range.
“Exterior grade” describes the bonding, not an ability to survive weather unprotected. It is not a substitute for marine plywood in a position exposed to direct rain or standing water. Seal the back face and all four edges — on exterior grade this matters more than on any interior board, because an unsealed edge is where moisture enters and the panel starts to swell. That span covers everything from the thinnest commercial board to the heaviest premium one, so treat it as a sanity check on a budget rather than a quotation — where your job lands inside it depends on the brand, thickness and grade you actually need.
